Hi. I’m Kavita.
I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there is no coincidence that you are reading this. I believe strongly in the power of connection and attraction, and the concept, which I repeat often, from Abraham Hicks, that “everything always works out for me”.
I want you to be able to say this today, and everyday with confidence. If we believe in ourselves and our abilities, regardless of our age or circumstances, we CAN achieve anything we want.
Masai Warriors & Thornbush
I shared a story recently of when I was a baby, and my father – who was a wheat farmer in Kenya at the time. When he was being chased by Masai warriors who believed he had encroached on their adjacent lands – he ran for his life and jumped into a thorn-filled Ila Ila bush to hide. He was in unspeakable pain as he hid from these warriors. The only thing that saved him that night was the vision of me – his new little baby girl – that got him through the pain and fear he was experiencing.
We can all have visions, like my father had, that can be so vivid that they lead us through any adversity in life. My life’s work now is to help you find that vision for yourself and to act upon it – regardless of the proverbial “Ila Ila bush” that may be in your way!
My Traditional Upbringing
I come from a pretty traditional background. A South Asian girl, born in Kenya, growing up in Canada, with the “typical Indian traditions” impressed upon me – such as getting a good education, a good job, getting married, and having children. I fulfilled those expectations to perfection, getting not one, but 2 degrees, an MBA and an undergraduate degree in Biology. I excelled at a pharmaceutical sales career for multinational companies – year after year winning national awards for my accomplishments. I got married (we are celebrating our 30th year this year) and have 2 brilliant, beautiful sons. Everything from the outside was perfect. Or so it seemed. From the inside, however, I had a little voice inside of me asking – is this it?
Do you ever hear that little voice?
It nags at you at first, but then becomes so loud that you can’t ignore it anymore. This happened to me at around the age of 50. I was going through a transition, which according to Linda Rossetti, Harvard MBA and an expert on transitions, “Include moments when there is a shift in what holds value and meaning to us. They require us to re-examine our assumptions about our identity, our capacity and our values”.
This is what happened to me, and it may be happening to you too. As women, especially in midlife, there are several significant transitions that occur. These may include some or all of – menopause, empty nest, career changes, caregiving, and relationship changes. These transitions can be challenging, but they can also provide opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and new experiences.
Process of Re-Discovery
As I re-examined my strengths, values and passions, I realized I needed to make a change. I was no longer fulfilled in my career and was remaining in it for comfort and ease. I needed to work on my relationships, my health, my spirituality, and my purpose.
I created a process of rediscovery that has led me to where I am today. I realized what I loved about my previous career was my connection with people and educating them about possible solutions. Which is what I’m doing now with my coaching. I realized my passion was to learn more about people’s stories, and to write and share stories – and that’s what I’m doing now with my podcast and my writings and workshops. I realized I love to help people understand their true potential, limit obstacles in their way, and create plans to achieve their dreams. That’s what I’m doing now. It CAN be done, my friend. I promise you.
So, after the age of 50, I left my comfortable and lucrative corporate career to pursue my desire to help women like you to find your inner power and purpose. I became a certified career & life transitions coach and am now a coach to numerous amazing souls. I launched a podcast which is now flourishing, successful, and inspiring hundreds of people. I put all my learnings in my course and coaching program “It’s My Time Now!” so I can share the tools and process I followed to get where I am today – happy, fulfilled, and so excited for what the future holds
If not now, when?
