Have you ever stopped to wonder: What’s next for me?
For many of us in midlife, this question comes knocking louder than ever.
Maybe it’s the changing pace of life or watching your children grow up and take on the world. Maybe it’s realizing that time isn’t an infinite resource. Whatever the reason, this question is both exciting and a little scary.
Recently, I was shopping with my sister for my niece’s wedding. As we were browsing dresses, it hit me—how did we get here so quickly? I vividly remember my niece as a little girl, always curious and full of life. Those qualities haven’t faded, but now she’s stepping into a whole new chapter of her own.
This moment of reflection got me thinking: How can we live a more intentional life?
So many of us go through life on autopilot—constantly chasing deadlines, fulfilling what feels like endless obligations, falling into routines that don’t necessarily light us up.
But when was the last time you asked yourself: Am I truly passionate about what I’m doing?
Finding Your Passions
Here’s the good news. Rediscovering your passion isn’t as complicated as it might seem. It starts by looking back. Think about the things that brought you joy as a child.
For example, as a kid, I loved pretending to interview people. I’d have my fake microphone, and I would ask everyone I could find a million questions, then write stories about what I’d learned. Somewhere along the way, I forgot about that. Life happened, as it does, and I pursued other paths.
But that childhood passion never truly left me. Today, as the host of the Midlife Reinvention podcast where I get to interview incredible women and share their stories, I realize I’ve come full circle.
Your passions don’t disappear – they’re often just buried beneath years of responsibilities and expectations.
Take a Step Toward Intention
If you’re feeling stuck, I encourage you to reconnect with what you love. Ask yourself:
- What excited me as a child?
- What activities make me lose track of time?
- If I could do anything without fear of judgment, what would it be?
Once you identify those passions, start weaving them into your life. Maybe it’s through a hobby, a side project, or even a career shift. The key is to take small, intentional steps.
Living with Purpose
Living an intentional life isn’t about making dramatic changes overnight. It’s about aligning your daily actions with what truly matters to you. It’s about letting your passions guide you to the life you’ve always imagined.
Time moves fast, but it’s never too late to rediscover what sets your soul on fire.
What’s one small step you can take today to move closer to the life you deserve?
